It’s always nice to know that other people are reading this real estate blog, but even better when it gets mention in newspapers or online. It was a great year for being mentioned in the LA Times, LACurbed.com, French Newspapers, Luxist.com, and about 8 other major media sites.

Without giving to many details I can tell you that one of the frequent readers of this blog was first to be notified about a huge, ocean view, home for sale in the distressed (short pay) category. He came out right away and now has an offer on a home, that if it gets accepted, may be the deal of the year in Malibu.
Just got my both my regular flu shot and the H1N1 Swine flu shot from Dr. Drew in Malibu. Didn’t feel a thing! The new needles are so small I was still waiting for the shot when he said “Your Done!” I can also report that there was no side affects and after the shot I just went on about my daily business.
Dr. Drew is our family doctor located on Point Dume in the offices located on the corner of PCH and Portshead. If you’d like a doctor who is easily accessible, is a local community member, and often can get you in his office faster than it would take to drive in to town, then give him a call. Despite the downturn in Malibu real estate, Point Dume still remains in demand with numerous homes closing this past month including one listed for sale $7.5m. A large garden estate located on Wildlife Road recently became one of the larger numbers seen on a property not located on the bluffs. The home, close to the beach gate, was over 8000sq.ft. on roughly 1.5 acres. Other transactions were seen on Grasswood, Fernhill, and in the Point Dume Club. I really love these two things…deals and technology. I’m fascinated by the emerging marketing trend where coupons and offers will come directly to your blackberry or Iphone. Imagine driving down the freeway in a town you are not familiar with. You search google maps on you PDA an you see a bunch of sushi places listed. First I usually check Yelp, Citysearch, or Chowhound to see if there are good reviews. BUT what if one of the restaurants had a one day 50% offer? I’d try that one! The only catch on this one is that wHen the offer goes out a few friends need to sign up for that deal too. If its a restaurant you all can just go eat together. I’m giving it a try. So here is a company that is starting out and there thing is to offer at least one thing a day in Los Angeles that is 50% off. This could be for restaurants, spas, movie tickets etc. There are businesses out there that just want you to know about them and this is a great way for them to reach us the consumer. There’s an art show tonight in the Malibu Lumber Yard featuring one of my favorite artists, Sage Vaughn. Malibu locals have been collecting his pieces for years and for good reason. He recently stormed the Sotheby’s Auction house with several high priced sales along side the who’s who of famous artists. The opening starts at 6pm and is on the second floor. There are several other artist’s displaying work, all worth hanging in your Malibu beach house!

A dee-lux coach located in the Point Dume Club has recently closed for $1,060,000. The unit, with panoramic views of Zuma beach and the Channel Islands, hit the Malibu Real Estate market in March, and with a few price reductions, closed for a price that you could have purchased large mansion in Texas. Let me tell ya’all…there’s nothing mobile about this mobile home! What you need to know about mobile homes in Malibu is that you are allowed to do some traditional “stick built” construction including foundations and 2×4 framed walls. That’s why this one looks like a regular beach home with an expansive interior. This may very well be the nicest examples of modern design in a mobile home park.
