A Cliff May mid-century hit the Malibu real estate market last night. The home, located in Bonsall Canyon, came on the market at $2,495,000 and has an ideal yard for kids with pool, large grassy areas, and mature sycamore trees for monkeying around. Just ran a quick check and there are 30 properties on the short sale bank owned real estate list. The properties range from a $89,000 piece of land described here “REO. Watch the ships! The hottest deals right now are the condos. Prices are low enough that quickly converting the unit in to a Pepperdine rental should makes sense.
I see this all the time….A major Malibu estate goes on the market at a high price and the neighbor a few doors down says “Hey! If he can get that, I should get this!” and will list their home for sale. It’s not a bad idea either if one house looks like a great deal and the other is priced a lot higher.
That’s my guess with what happened with the two major bluff estates above Paradise Cove competing for buyers right now. The first property at 28060 PCH came on the Malibu real estate market a few month ago at $55m then took a $10m price chop (just imagine that conversation between the listing agent and owner). Just a few days ago the property at 27740 PCH, just a few lots down, came on the market at $42.5m. Both are on similar lots and have homes between 11,000 and 12,000 sq.ft. They are both trophy properties by Malibu standards and sit on some of the most expensive real estate on the planet.
You can bet buyers in that price range are going to be looking at both properties for sale. Both homes are distinctively different in styles so it will be interesting to see which one sells first. So last week I tried to give the readers of Malibu Real Estate blog a little heads up on a smashingly great Point Dume Home that was coming on the market. Well, it’s officially listed now! I’m not going to mention names, but if you are “in the know”, you’ll be aware of several large celebrity transactions that have taken place over the years on Wildlife. It is arguably one of the best roads on Point Dume to be on and others have paid big numbers to be there.

I closed a lot on Cliffside last week. Asking price was $12,500,000 and it was in multiples.
An older ranch home on Wildlife came on the market at $2.150m and quickly had two offers on it after numerous showings
An lease option was rumored to have been exercised on a home around $17m.
The listing at 28860 Selfridge got a price chop from $2,995,000 to $2,845,000.
The deal of the decade was the home that sold at 6805 Wildlife. It sold for $2,645,000 and had over 6000 sq.ft.

A home seller in Malibu has come up with a very unique and creative way of bringing attention to the sale of his home….he’s throwing in his red Ferrari F40. The iconic Italian sports car has less than 800 miles on it and only 1315 production models ever rolled off the factory floor in Maranello, Italy. The car was originally offered at $400k, though some buyers were willing to pay a bit more to possess this stellar sports model…up to $1.6m! The F40 was the first ever legal production car to exceed 200 mph. A Japanese Ferrari dealer once filmed himself hitting 201 mph only to be arrested after he sold a videotape to an undercover policeman. Bail probably wasn’t a problem, he had already sold 10,000 of the videos. The only catch on securing the car is that the home for sale must be purchased before 6-30-2010.
Oh, and about the house! The home’s asking price is $4,399,333.00 and it has expansive ocean views on half an acre. There are 5 bedrooms, 5 bathrooms, and close to 6000 sq.ft. of living space.
