Where to Eat

Published by Malibu Real Estate

This blog is only a weeks old and guess what page gets the most hits? Yep, this one. Twice as many per day as any other portion of the site.  It looks like my real estate blog is going to be a hit with hungry people! I’ll make you a deal. I refer you to a good place to eat and in return you refer me a good buyer or seller in Malibu or the surrounding areas. Deal? I love food and can cook with the best of them. I’ve waited tables,  keep my Wushtofs sharp, make pasta from scratch, grow acres of organic veggies and herbs, and collect wild chanterelles from the local hills. I’ve got truffle oil in the kitchen and worry when the saffron gets low. I’m not a food snob but I know when restaurant has it together. So here’s the local knowledge. There aren’t really any bad restaurants in Malibu. The rents are so high that you just won’t survive if your food isn’t excellent over and over again.  There are a few that I don’t care for and those will not be included on this list. Check out the link ” My Favorite  Restaurants in Malibu” to the right for directions and reviews.

  • Cholada Thai - Maybe one of the best Thai food restaurants in all of LA. Don’t let the dilapidated building scare you. The food is ultra fresh.$$
  • Saddle Peak Lodge- Where to go for special occasions. Try anything thats wild like elk tenderloin, deer chops, antelope steak, and bison fillets.$$$$
  • Guido’s- Great Italian food and big enough to get a table on a weekend.$$$
  • Allegria- More good Italian food. Don’t fill up to much on the dip and bread at the table because it can almost be a meal in itself.$$$
  • Tra Di Noi - I go here for Oso Bucco and Nocchi. Another good Italian eatery in Malibu.$$$
  • Sage Room- Our favorite Italian restaurant in Malibu. Try the Zucca ravioli and feel free to ask the chef to make a custom dish. Small and cozy dining.$$$
  • Nobu Sushi- High digit raw fish and the place to see a celebrity attacked by paps.$$$$$$$
  • Marmalade- Comfort food with a gourmet twist. Great breakfast. Naughty fresh rolls, killer soups and salads, and properly marbled steaks.$$
  • Geoffrey’s- The ultimate view spot. Make a reservation during the full moon and pop the special question. Great Sunday Brunch.$$$$
  • Lily’s Cafe and Pastries- Very affordable mexican food. Best burritos in town and you are a bonafide local if you eat here more than 3x per week.$$
  • Reel Inn- I only go for Taco Tuesday. Get two giant taco’s and a beer for under ten bucks.$$
  • Duke’s- The place to take out of town guests with a great ocean view and waves that spray water on to the windows where you sit. Taco Tuesday also.$$$
  • Malibu Seafood- Great place for fish sandwiches, general seafood, deep fried goodies, and  you can bring your own wine. $$$
  • Howdy’s- A good alternative to La Salsa. Locally owned Mexican food with a great salsa bar.$$
  • Casa Escobar- High end Mexican food with a swanky bar for rita’s. No mexican flags on the sour cream mound here.$$$
  • Malibu Mutt- The only game in town for Falafel.$
  • Malibu Yogurt- Out only ice cream shop with lo-cal and no-cal yogurts. Go before 7pm or risk getting mobbed by hungry Pepperdine students.  $
  • Malibu Kitchen- A great sandwhich, deli, bakery all in one. I go for the pulled pork sandwhich with coleslaw. $$
